Eleven more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country, the health authorities said on Wednesday.

The figures included four fatalities recorded on Monday.

Meanwhile, the country witnessed 1,157 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours until 8am on Wednesday.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), 113 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am Tuesday and 8am Wednesday, with no confirmed deaths during the same period.

The DGHS said that since 15 March, the total number of confirmed measles cases has stood at 20,851, while suspected cases have reached 183,449.

During the same period, 101 people died from confirmed measles, while 975 deaths were reported among suspected cases, bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,076.

Besides, a total of 155,612 patients have recovered so far, the DGHS said.
