The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has announced that no new private clinics or diagnostic centers will be allowed to operate within a one-kilometer radius of any government hospital.

Additionally, government doctors will no longer be permitted to practice in existing private healthcare facilities located within this zone.

The DGHS issued an official order to this effect on Tuesday (September 22), signed by Dr. Md. Nurul Islam, Director of Hospitals and Clinics at the directorate.

According to the order, the directive implements Decision No. 03 from the minutes of a high-level meeting on healthcare quality improvement, chaired by the Prime Minister on August 17.

All Divisional Directors, Civil Surgeons, and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers have been instructed to take necessary measures to enforce the directive immediately and formally report back to the DGHS on the actions taken.
