Hundreds of people from all walks of life including teachers, students, socio-cultural activists and political personalities under the banner of ‘Bangladesh Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad’ formed a human chain at Baza’ar Station area in Sirajganj town on Saturday morning demanding connection of Sirajganj-Bogura railway with Raipur junction with the aim to make the district town more vibrant and business oriented.
Abu Hashim, Assistant Professor of Fuljor Degree College and Convener of the movement presided over the programme, while President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sirajganj district Unit and General Secretary of district BNP Saidur Rahman Bachchu, Vice-President of district BNP Sree Amar Krisna Das and Joint-Secretary of district BNP Sabbir Hossain Bhuiyan Safi among others spoke on the occasion.
Speakers at the human chain said, if Raipur railway station is extended to a junction and Sirajganj-Bogura railway is attached with it, the town dwellers will be able to enjoy multiple facilities in future in context of communication, trade and commerce. Just for this development, the wheel of Sirajganj economy will be more active and vibrant doubtlessly.
After the human chain, the demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner Md. Aminul Islam seeking necessary steps in this regard.
