A woman and her son were burnt to death after their house caught fire due to lightning strike in Khagrachhari’s Dighinala upazila on Sunday.
The incident took place early in the morning at Madhyabetchhari village under Merung Union.
The deceased were Hasina Begum, 30, wife of Sadek Ali, a resident of that village, and her son Hanif Mia, 8. Merung UP Chairman Mahmuda Begum Lucky said that the tin-shed house of the victims caught fire early morning due to lightning. The victims could not get out of the house. They were burnt in the fire and died on the spot. Hasina Begum’s driver husband Sadek Ali was not at home at that time.
