Two people were killed and three others injured in separate lightning strikes in Kushtia on Thursday.

In Daulatpur, Aroz Ali, 30, died after being struck by lightning while sitting near a wetland beside his home in Narayanpur village around 1:15 PM.

Locals rushed him to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex in critical condition, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police said a preliminary investigation suggested he died from the lightning strike.

In another incident, three people were struck by lightning while working in a field in Dahakola of Alam­pur union in Kushtia Sadar around 2:30 PM.

They were taken to Kushtia Medical College Hospital, where Rowshan Ali Nushu, 45, died while undergoing treatment.

The two injured, Samez Ali and Abdul Jalil, are receiving treatment at the hospital. Their condition was described as critical.

The respective police stations confirmed the incidents.
