Religious Affairs Advisor Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain said there is no scope for charging more airfare in Hajj flights than the government has set and strict action will be taken if agencies cheat.

He said this at a meeting organized by Bishwakalyan Publications in Puran Paltan in the capital on Saturday afternoon. At the time, the Religious Advisor unveiled the cover of his book ‘Islamic Rules’.

Responding to questions from journalists after the event, the Religious Advisor said that if any agency cheats Hajj passengers, action will be taken against them. If anyone found guilty, their licenses and deposits will be cancelled, and if necessary, a case will be filed under state law.

Stating that the airfare has been fixed at Tk 1 lakh 47 thousand from now on, the Religious Advisor said, “This time no agency will be able to send Hajj passengers for less than 1,000. To get approval from next year, the agency will have to send a minimum of 2000 Hajj passengers. Besides, if any agency wants to book tickets in advance for Hajis, then the booking must be made with the person’s name and passport number and it cannot be kept for more than three days.”

The event was attended by Dhaka University vice chancellor Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Islamic Arabic University vice chancellor Professor Dr. Shamsul Alam, Islamic Foundation director general A. Salam Khan and others.
