State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak has offered a public apology to the young generation of Bangladesh.
He offered his apology at a discussion and prayer programme marking the upcoming National Mourning Day, organised by the Singra Upazila Awami League in Singra on Friday, reports Amader Shomoy Singra correspondent.
Palak said, “If I have done anything wrong to the young generation, I apologise publicly. I am solely responsible for failure to stop misinformation and disruption of internet services. I take full responsibility for failing to prevent the spread of rumours on social media.
“I promise to accept any decision made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”
He continued, “The distance created with the students can never be resolved by making tough decisions. It has to be resolved with the right decisions.
“I believe if we sit and listen to them with love and compassion, instead of choosing the path of strict discipline, this misunderstanding will definitely disappear. This way, the conspirators’ plot will not be successful.”
