Preparation for Biswa Ijtema at final stage

Preparation work to hold the 56th World Ijtema on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi from February 2 is going on in full swing to make the yearly event a success.

Already, 95% of the maidan work has been completed. Volunteers including members of Tabligh Jamaat are working day and night. By January 1, millions of worshipers from home and abroad will take their stand in the Ijtema field at the Khita designated for them.

The organizers say that around 50 lakh people will gather in the first phase of this year’s Bishwa Ijtema.

The work of hanging the huge curtain on 160 acres in Tongi is almost finished. Army personnel are building Paltun Bridge on Turag River. Through which the worshipers can travel from one place to the other.

Besides, fresh water will be supplied daily through a 12 km pipeline to 12 production tubewells on behalf of Gazipur City Corporation. There are about 8 thousand temporary toilets. According to the demand of the ground, provision of bleaching powder and 25 fogger machines have also been made to kill mosquitoes. Adequate CCTV cameras have been installed for security.

The first phase of Ijtema will be held on February 2,3 and 4 and the second phase on February 9, 1o and 11
