Entertainment Desk:

Concerts are returning to enthral music lovers as the entertainment industry begins to get to normal following the recent upsurge.

Termed the beginning of ‘Bangladesh 2.0’ – concert organisers, bands and music artists are gearing up to hold several concerts, four major events have been announced as of this reporting.

Welcoming music lovers to create a new era of freedom and unity for the country, Bangladesh Musical Bands Association [BAMBA] recently revealed on its official Facebook page that it will be staging the inaugural major live event, the ‘Mukti Concert’ on August 31, in remembrance of the revolutionaries and their families who suffered injuries during the student movement.

“In a time of great change, music has the power to unite us. BAMBA is proud to present this day-long event, featuring performances by top Bangladeshi bands and more! But this concert is more than just music – it’s a call to action. We’re standing in solidarity with the injured revolutionaries of the student movement and the families of those who fought for freedom and justice,” BAMBA shared in its official Facebook post.

The line-up and venue are yet to be announced, and the association asked for sponsorship by sharing its contact details on the post, stating that all proceeds will go directly to the injured in need.

Popular Indian-Bengali music artist Nachiketa Chakraborty, who last performed in the concert ‘Dhaka Melancholy’ at the capital’s Hatirjheel Amphitheatre on July 12, is set to return once again for the event ‘Nachiketa Live in Dhaka with Joy Shahriar – Volume 2’ on September 6, Friday at the KIB Auditorium.

The concert was initially scheduled for July 26. However, the organisers of the concert, Aajob Karkhana and Aajob Records rescheduled the event considering the ongoing circumstances in the country.

On the same day, Dhaka Rock Carnival, which is one of the biggest festivals of Rock Music & new Rockstar hunting platform in the country, will be staging an open-air concert titled ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar’ at the Jamuna Future Park Open Air Arena.

This special concert, named after the iconic ‘Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, the radio broadcasting centre of Bengali nationalist forces during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, is yet to announce its line-up.

Three major event management entities – Assen Buzz, Get Set Rock and Xirconium, acclaimed for hosting the ‘Anjan Dutt Metropolis Volume-2’ back in May this year at the Dhaka Arena, Purbachal 300 feet Expressway in the city, have announced on Facebook about a new live concert titled ‘Legends of the Decade’.

As with the previous concerts listed above, the lineup for this one, which is scheduled for September 25 at the same location, has not yet been revealed. However, music fans are looking forward to having some of the biggest bands and artists perform live at the event, as the Facebook event page states – “The Legends of the Decade are coming together in one stage!”

Netizens on social platforms are sharing mostly positive responses to all these announcements, also offering constructive criticisms, suggestions and anticipations regarding the yet-to-be-revealed line-ups.
