A local court Thursday remanded Jubo League leader Zahirul Islam Rubel for the second time, who opened fire during the anti-discrimination student movement in Rajshahi with two pistols in both hands. At that time, the police applied for a 10-day remand, but the court granted a seven-day remand.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 Judge Faisal Tarek handed down the verdict on Thursday (September 19) afternoon.

Earlier, he was remanded for 5 days in the murder case of Rajshahi College student and camp leader Ali Raihan. After this remand, police produced him before the Rajshahi Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 on Thursday. Later his remand was sought in the Sakib Anjum murder case.

Earlier, last Sunday, the police applied for a 10-day remand, and the court granted a five-day remand. At the end of that remand, when he produced before the court again, the judge granted him seven days remand anew.

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Spokesperson and Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sabina Yasmin confirmed the matter.

He said, there have been four cases against Rubel so far. Two of these are murder cases. He was remanded in a murder case last Sunday. Today a seven-day remand was given in another murder case.
