Probe body formed

A passenger train rammed from back an oil train standing at the Joydebpur Junction area of Gazipur. Nine coaches of two trains derailed and several people were injured. This incident happened around 11:00am on Friday. Residents took the injured loco master and the remaining three to Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital. After this incident, train movement through Joydebpur station has been stopped. Because of this, the train movement of the North-West route with Dhaka has been suspended. Joydevpur stationmaster Hanif Mia said that the Tangail commuter and freight train collided. The accident was caused by a signalman’s mistake. Five coaches of the freight train and four coaches of the passenger train were derailed. The commuter train was less crowded. Because of this, the number of casualties is less. Four people, including the locomaster (train driver) of the commuter train, were injured.
The Deputy Commissioner said that an investigation committee of three members has been formed in this incident. Several trains have been suspended at various stations since the incident. The higher authorities of the Railways have been contacted to take steps to start the rescue process as soon as possible.
