Train hits sand-laden truck in Feni; Death toll climbs at 6

Four more people died in a collision between a Chattogram-bound mail train and a sand-laden truck in the area adjacent to Muhuriganj Bridge in Chhagalnaiya, Feni. With this, the death toll stood at six.

Confirming the matter, Feni District Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan said that when a truck carrying sand got stuck on the rail line while crossing the railway in Muhuriganj of Feni. A mail train from Dhaka to Chattogram ‘To Down Chattogram’ pushed and dragged the truck. As a result, the truck overturned and fell on the line.

Two people died on the spot. Hopefully, the truck can be rescued and the train movement can be restarted in a short time. The incident will be investigated. Action will be taken if someone is negligent.

According to Feni Railway Station Master Mohammad Harun, the Chattogram mail train from Dhaka to Chattogram hit the sand-laden truck Muhuriganj area of Feni at around 8:30 am. Two people were killed on the spot. Among the dead, one is a truck driver and the other is a train passenger. Feni Superintendent of Police Zakir Hasan visited the spot after receiving the news.
