Three people have been arrested by police in connection with the murder of Dr Abdur Rashid, a UK expatriate physician, at his Dhanmondi residence in the capital on November 15 last.

The arrested were Nayeem, Rifat and Shaon. They were sent to court for recording their confessional statements after their arrest two weeks into the murder.
Police said two of the accused were the tenants at Abdur Rashid’s house. Trouble was going on for a long time over the rent issue between them. The accused planned to commit robbery to realise money making Dr Abdur Rashid hostage. At one stage of the robbery at the physician couple’s residence, Dr Rashid was stabbed to death when he opposed the robbers.
