The final gazette for the 49th special BCS examination has been published, with 611 candidates appointed to the Bangladesh Civil Service (general education) cadre.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued the appointment gazette on Wednesday (September 30) following recommendations from the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC).

According to the gazette, the appointees have been asked to join the designated office of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education by October 12. If no further instructions are issued by the division, they will have to join on that date. Failure to join within the stipulated time will be considered unwillingness to join the service, and the appointment will be deemed cancelled.

The appointees have been appointed to entry-level posts of the BCS (general education) cadre under the National Pay Scale 2026, with a pay scale of Tk 44,000-105,900.

They will have to serve a two-year probationary period, which may be extended by the government for another two years if necessary.

The gazette states that an appointee deemed unsuitable to remain in service during the probationary period may be removed without being asked to show cause and without consultation with the PSC.

The PSC published the results of the 49th special BCS examination on October 19, 2025, with 1,219 candidates declared successful.
