“My Bicycle”, the directorial debut of Aung Rakhine, was screened on Thursday at the Suhrawardy Udyan Open Stage.

The first full-length Chakma-language film was previously banned by the censorship board.

In the movie My Bicycle (Mor Thengari) revealed the story of an indigenous man named Komol, who returns to his native village after losing his job in the city and decides never to return to the city again.

He starts ferrying passengers and goods with his bicycle. However, the local thugs demand extortion from Komol and when he refuses to give them any money they vandalise his bicycle.

The film was banned due to “objections from the Bangladesh Army”, according to the director. Subsequently, it was banned by the censorship board. However, a group of like-minded young filmmakers, students, and educators organised the screening of “My Bicycle” at Suhrawardy Udyan.
