In a major reshuffle in the police department, the government on Tuesday sent Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Moniruzzaman and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur range Abdul Baten to forced retirement.

Additional IGP and Special Branch (SB) of Police Chief Monirul Islam has been attached to the police headquarters.

Md Shah Alam, DIG of the Railway Police, has been appointed as the chief of the Special Branch (SB), an intelligence unit of the Bangladesh Police.

Additional Inspector General (AIG) Md Tawfique Mahbub Chowdhury of Police Department has been transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation, and AIG Mohammad Ali Mia of CID transferred to the Police Department in Dhaka.

Additionally, 29 Superintendents of Police (SPs) who were recently promoted to the rank of Additional DIG have been transferred and posted to new positions.

Furthermore, 18 officer-in-charges (OCs) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) police stations have been transferred to various unarmed police units.

Separate gazette notifications from the Home Ministry and the DMP were issued today regarding these changes.

Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police (ADIG) Md Anwar Hossain was transferred to APBn and Specialised Training centre, Khagracchari; ADIG AFM Anjuman Kalam was transferred to CID; ADIG Md Kamrul Ahsan was sent to Police Department; ADIG Shahzada Md Asaduzzaman of RRF Chattogram was transferred to Police Department of Dhaka; APBn Khulna ADIG Md Masud Karim was transferred to DMP as Joint Commissioner, Sylhet APBn ADIG Md Faridul Islam and Sylhet Range ADIG Syed Harun-ar Rashid were sent to DMP as Joint Commissioner; and DIG Hasan Mohammad Showkat Ali of BMP, Barisal was appointed as the DMP Joint Commissioner.
