A court on Friday sent former Khulna-4 lawmaker Abdus Salam Murshedy to jail in a case lodged over the killing of garment worker Rubel during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuddin Hossain passed the order as police produced Murshedy before the court after the end of his two-day remand in the case and pleaded to keep him behind bars till the end of the probe, reports BSS.
The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman on October 2 placed Murshedy, also the former senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), on two-day remand in the case.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Abdus Salam Murshedy from the city’s Bashundhara residential area on October 1.
Garment worker Rubel joined anti-discrimination student movement in Adabor Ring Road area on August 5. He got shot on his chest and abdomen on that day and succumbed to his injuries two days later.
Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed the case on August 22 against 156 people, including Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and Sakib Al Hasan.
