A total of nine shops were gutted in a fire broke out in a market in Cumilla’s Daudkandi early Sunday.

The fire incident took place around 3 am at Pourobazar Chengakandi Ghat of the upazila.

Local businessmen have claimed that there has been a loss of around Tk two crore

The fire seemed to have started from an electrical short circuit, the traders said.

According to eyewitnesses and fire, the fire started from a grocery store and it spread to the surrounding shops in a moment. Local businessmen informed the fire service. Later, local people and fire service personnel brought the fire under control after two hours of efforts.
