The Central Intelligence Cell (CIC) of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has initiated a raid at Savana Eco Park and Resort, owned by former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed.

A 15-member team entered the park at around 11:50am on Tuesday, inspecting various structures within the park, followed by a detailed review of computers and files in the park’s offices.

It has been initially reported that the team is investigating potential tax evasion related to the park.

However, the specific areas of investigation have not yet been disclosed to the media. The team said they will brief the media after the conclusion of the investigation.

Benazir Ahmed established the park in Bairagitola village, Gopalganj Sadar upazila, during his tenure as IGP and previously the director general of RAB.

Allegations surfaced last year that the park had been built by occupying land belonging to the Hindu community.

In June, the park was confiscated under a court order, and local authorities appointed receivers to manage the park.

These receivers are currently overseeing its operations.
