Bangladesh’s economic growth has slightly increased to 4.48% on a point-to-point basis in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, which is the period of October-December.
This was 4.47% in the second quarter of the previous 2023-24 fiscal year, according to data by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Tuesday (April 8).
The growth in the first quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, however, stood at 1.96%, which is the period of July-September.
Growth in the agriculture and service sectors declined during this period.
On a point-to-point basis, growth in the sector stood at 1.25% in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year, remaining at constant prices, compared to 4.09% in the second quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
In the services sector, the growth on a point-to-point basis stood at 3.78% in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year at constant prices, compared to 7.10% in the second quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
Growth in the industrial sector increased during this period.
On a point-to-point basis, it stood at 7.10% in the second quarter of the 2024-25 fiscal year at constant prices, compared to 1.04% in the second quarter of the 2023-24 fiscal year.
