Entertainment Desk:
At the grand trailer launch of ‘Housefull 5’, Akshay Kumar not only teased the audience with glimpses of the upcoming slapstick comedy but also shared a touching personal revelation that stole the spotlight.
As the star-studded cast and crew—including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, and Nana Patekar—unveiled the much-anticipated fifth installment of the Housefull franchise, the conversation naturally turned to the film’s genre: slapstick comedy.
Akshay, known for his impeccable comic timing, stood up for the often-underrated genre. “Slapstick comedy is no joke,” he said. “People think it’s just about someone slipping or getting hit, but making people laugh through physical humour takes incredible timing and talent.”
He praised his co-stars for contributing to the film’s unique comic flavour, highlighting the blend of action and physical comedy that defines Housefull 5. “It’s not just slapstick. It’s action mixed with physical comedy. That’s the fun of it,” Akshay noted.
But the most memorable moment came when the superstar, with a nostalgic smile, pulled out a cherished item from his wallet—a photograph of Charlie Chaplin.
“He’s been with me for years,” Akshay said, holding up the picture. “His work, his timing, his presence — it’s timeless. He didn’t just make people laugh; he made them feel. That’s what I aspire to do, even in a film as crazy as ‘Housefull 5’.”
Chaplin, of course, is an iconic figure in film history. With a career spanning over six decades, the silent era’s “Little Tramp” left an indelible mark not just with his comedy but with the heart behind it.
From films like ‘City Lights’ and ‘Modern Times’ to receiving a 12-minute standing ovation at the 1972 Academy Awards, Chaplin’s legacy continues to inspire entertainers across the world — Akshay included.
Meanwhile, ‘Housefull 5’ promises a high-energy comic ride, with a massive ensemble cast including Fardeen Khan, Jackie Shroff, Ranjeet, Johny Lever, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chunky Panday, Dino Morea, Sonam Bajwa, and Soundarya Sharma.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film is set to hit theatres on June 6.
