HOW ARE YOU DOING?
I am well. Very well. I am with my son Anik. I am extremely happy being with my son.
HOW ARE YOU SPENDING YOUR TIME IN CANADA?
I am spending joyful time with my child. Now there is a lot of snowfall, so it’s not really possible to go out much. I spend most of my time at home. But last summer, I had a wonderful time. My son Anik’s house is by a river. The nature here is very beautiful. As soon as you step outside the house, there is a lovely river. On Anik’s days off, we visited many places. The two of us bought flowering plants together and made a garden. Truly speaking, there is nothing more beautiful than the time spent with one’s child. I am having the best time of my life.

On Anik’s days off, I cook his favourite foods. He really likes my chicken korma, beef curry, and lentils. Along with other dishes, I cook his favourite items. Besides that, we talk a lot. Anik is very busy with his office work. After he returns home from work, we spend lovely time together. On his weekly holidays, he takes me out to different places. Although now, due to heavy snowfall, we are not going anywhere. Overall, mother and son are spending a very good time together.
ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT YOUR ONLY CHILD’S MARRIAGE?
I have left the marriage decision to Anik. Besides, whatever the Almighty has written, that will happen. I will not force him. It is his own matter. If he likes someone, he will tell me. Then we will discuss it.
YOU HAVE DONE MANY FILMS. DO YOU EVER FEEL NOSTALGIC? DO YOU WATCH THOSE FILMS?
I sometimes watch the films that were highly acclaimed, received awards at home and abroad, and earned praise. It feels good to watch them. I become nostalgic. I go back in time. You see, many famous directors from my time are no longer alive. Many co-artistes are also no longer alive. When I feel nostalgic, I remember them. I miss them very much.
YOU WERE THE HEROINE OF ILIAS KANCHAN’S FIRST FILM. YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT HIM?
Ilias Kanchan is a very good human being. Just as he is a great artiste, he is also a very good person. Socially, he is acceptable to everyone. I was deeply saddened to hear about his illness. It pained me. I am praying for his recovery. I am sincerely praying to the Creator that he gets well soon and returns among us as before. He has given one life to cinema. Alongside that, he has devoted another life to serving people. Especially the organisation he founded, Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA), has earned great appreciation. For years, he has been working on how to make roads safer. May the Almighty bring back his smile.
You were the heroine of many actors like Zafar Iqbal and Razzak. We would like to know about them.
Zafar Iqbal was my hero and also a good friend. He is no longer alive. I did many films with him, which audiences still remember. Viewers liked our pairing. He was a very stylish hero. Nayak Raj Razzak was my hero, and I also had a family relationship with him. He was an extremely good human being. I had good relationships with all the actors I worked with. They were very good people. Some are still alive, and some are no longer alive. I also acted in films produced by Razzak Bhai’s production house. I did superhit films with actor Farooque Bhai. He is no longer alive. I also worked with Sohel Rana Bhai. He is alive. I acted opposite Bulbul Ahmed Bhai. He is no longer alive. I worked with Ilias Kanchan, about whom I have already spoken. I remember everyone.
