Bangladesh received $2.86 billion in remittances in July, the first month of the 2026-27 fiscal year, registering a 15.79% year-on-year increase as expatriate Bangladeshis continued to send more money through formal banking channels.
According to the latest data from the Bangladesh Bank, remittance inflows totalled $2.858 billion between 1 and 31 July, up from $2.478 billion received during the same month of the previous fiscal year.
The latest figure is also slightly higher than the amount received in June, which stood at $2.82 billion.
At the current exchange rate of around Tk123 per US dollar, July’s remittance inflow amounts to approximately Tk35,161 crore.
The central bank data showed that remittance inflows gathered momentum throughout the month.
Bangladesh received $567 million during the first five days of July, which increased to $2.095 billion in the first 21 days and $2.524 billion by 27 July before reaching nearly $2.86 billion by the end of the month.
The steady inflow has also helped keep the country’s foreign exchange reserves at a comfortable level.
Bangladesh’s gross foreign exchange reserves currently stand at $36.45 billion, compared with $36.48 billion a week earlier.
