Salahuddin Ammar, General Secretary of the Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RAKSU), has been stripped of his “Sathi” (associate) membership in Islami Chhatra Shibir following allegations of organizational irregularities, including selling positions on local committees of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Mehedi Hasan, General Secretary of the university’s Shibir unit, confirmed the development to reporters on Wednesday evening, noting that the events transpired in 2025.

According to an official letter signed on July 31 this year by Mujahid Faisal, President of the university unit, Ammar’s membership was initially suspended during a secretariat meeting in February 2025. The decision cited moral turpitude, neglect of basic religious obligations, free mixing, illegal financial transactions, misappropriation of assets, and activities contrary to the organization’s goals.

The letter further stated that his membership was permanently revoked during the September 2025 secretariat meeting after he failed to provide a satisfactory response to the charges.

The organizational notice highlighted that Ammar’s actions and potential involvement in criminal offenses were creating instability on campus, warning that his “provocative conduct” could spark conflict. Consequently, Shibir members were instructed to refrain from reacting to his online or offline activities, advising that only elected Raksu officials maintain official conduct with him.

Earlier, on February 4, 2025, a letter signed by former Shibir unit president and current Raksu Vice President (VP) Mustakur Rahman Zahid addressed the preliminary allegations against Ammar. The letter noted that reports published in various media outlets and complaints raised across different platforms regarding position-trading in the Rajshahi city and district committees of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement were reviewed during a secretariat meeting on February 3, leading to the initial suspension of his status.

Repeated attempts to contact Raksu GS Salahuddin Ammar for comments regarding the allegations were unsuccessful.
