‘Kalki 2898 AD’ crosses Rs500 crore in four days

In a spectacular debut on 28 June, the sci-fi epic “Kalki 2898 AD”, featuring  Prabhas, Amitabh  Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Deepika  Padukone, has stormed the box office by surpassing the Rs 500 crore mark globally within its opening weekend. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this Telugu-language film continues to dominate cinemas across India, marking a significant achievement in its box office journey.

According to trade reports, the film started strong with a staggering Rs 95.3 crore on its opening day, followed by Rs 57.6 crore on Friday. It bounced back on Saturday with Rs 64.5 crore and culminated its weekend with an impressive Rs 85 crore on Sunday alone. This brought its total domestic collection to an estimated Rs 302.4 crore by the end of the weekend.

Internationally, “Kalki 2898 AD” has also made substantial strides, grossing approximately Rs 369.5 crore from overseas markets. Notably, the film earned $5.4 million (approximately Rs 45.01 crore) in North America, securing a top-five spot in the weekend box office rankings.

Reflecting on its success, trade analyst Ramesh Bala highlighted, “At the end of 4-day weekend, #Kalki2898AD has grossed around Rs 550 Crs at the WW Box office.”

The film’s success in North America has been particularly noteworthy, becoming the first Indian film to achieve $11 million (about Rs 90.2 crore) during its opening weekend. This milestone underscores its growing popularity and appeal among global audiences.

Director Nag  Ashwin’s vision and the film’s compelling storyline, coupled with stunning visual effects, have garnered praise and widespread acceptance among moviegoers. Superstar Rajinikanth expressed his admiration, stating, “Director Nag Ashwin has taken Indian Cinema to a different level.”

“Kalki 2898 AD” blends elements of science fiction with Indian mythology, featuring a star-studded cast including  Prabhas,  Deepika  Padukone, Amitabh  Bachchan, Kamal  Haasan, and Disha  Patani. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies on a massive budget, the film is set to continue its record-breaking spree, poised to set new benchmarks in the weeks ahead.

With positive reviews and strong audience feedback across various demographics, “Kalki 2898 AD” reaffirms that compelling content remains the ultimate king at the box office. As it prepares to enter its next phase of theatrical run, expectations are high that the film will continue to soar, possibly crossing the Rs 800 crore mark in its lifetime.
