Popular Bangladeshi actor Chanchal Chowdhury-starrer Tollywood movie “Padatik” has finally got a release date. The Srijit Mukherji-directed project will hit theatres in Kolkata on 15 August.

Srijit Mukherji announced the release date of the movie along with its poster on Tuesday.

The film “Padatik” is based on the life of renowned Bengali filmmaker Mrinal Sen.

Chanchal Chowdhury takes on the role of the protagonist, Mrinal Sen, in the tribute movie. The teaser of the movie was released last May. Chanchal Chowdhury’s performance in the teaser has been widely appreciated by the audience.

Besides Chanchal Chowdhury, the film also stars Akshay Kapoor, Korak Samanta and Monami Ghosh.

Mrinal Sen was born on May 14, 1923 in Faridpur, British India, now in Bangladesh and died in 2018, leaving behind a glittering array of work, most of which are considered landmarks of Indian cinema, including ‘Neel Akasher Neechey’ (1959), ‘Baishey Shravana’ (1960), ‘Akash Kusum’ (1965), ‘Bhuvan Shome’ (1969), ‘Interview’, (1971), ‘Calcutta 71’ (1972), ‘Padatik’ (1973), ‘Ek Din Pratidin’ (1979), and ‘Khandhar’ (1983).
