Decades after making her mark in South Indian cinema, renowned actress Ramya Krishnan—widely celebrated for her iconic role as Shivagami (Rajamata) in the Baahubali franchise—has found her past personal life back under the media spotlight over an alleged secret affair, pregnancy, and subsequent abortion involving a married director.

According to a report by Indian media outlet News18, the incident traces back to 1999 when Ramya first collaborated with acclaimed South Indian film director K.S. Ravikumar. Their professional relationship soon turned intimate, leading to an affair that became an open secret within film circles. Ramya subsequently starred in multiple projects helm by Ravikumar as their relationship deepened.

The media report claims that the situation escalated when Ramya became pregnant. Upon learning of the affair, Ravikumar’s wife reportedly confronted and warned the actress. Caught in the controversy, the director refused to acknowledge the unborn child or grant it his identity. Consequently, Ramya decided to terminate the pregnancy, allegedly demanding 75 lakh BDT/INR from Ravikumar as compensation at the time.

While both Ramya Krishnan and K.S. Ravikumar have repeatedly denied the allegations of an affair and pregnancy in past media interactions, the rumors continue to circulate as one of the South Indian film industry’s most talked-about past controversies.

Ramya later moved on and tied the knot with film director Krishna Vamsi in 2003. The couple shares a son named Ritwik Krishnan and currently leads a quiet family life.

With a career spanning over two decades and more than 260 films to her credit, Ramya Krishnan remains a powerhouse performer in Indian cinema. She was most recently seen sharing screen space with Superstar Rajinikanth in the blockbuster film Jailer.
