Showkat Aziz Russell, chairman of Amber Group and former vice-president of the BTMA, has been made news president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA).

BTMA confirmed this in a press release on Monday (August 12).

Mohammad Ali Khokon has resigned from his post as president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), citing personal reasons.

The BTMA’s board of directors accepted Khokon’s resignation letter during a meeting at its Gulshan office on Monday. Showkat Aziz was elected as the president in this meeting.

Khokon is recognised in business circles as a pro-Awami League businessman.

He has been president of the BTMA since 2018.

According to the press release, Showkat Aziz Russell previously has served as the senior vice president of BTMA for six years in three terms and as director of BTMA for more than a decade in multiple terms.
