Celebrities from the entertainment industry urge everyone to stand by the flood-affected people as eight districts of the country have been hit by floods. Acclaimed filmmakers Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, Ashfaque Nipun, popular actors Chanchal Chowdhury, Pori Moni, Azmeri Haque Badhon, Zakia Bari Mamo, Bubly, Tasnia Farin, Yash Rohan, singer Asif Akbar musician Prince Mahmud, musical band Shironamhin and others took their social media handles to seek help.

Mostofa Sarwar Farooki shared a post on his Facebook account. “Think we are at war. So what would you do? We all jumped together. Then let’s do it again. Brothers and sisters of the Bangladesh Navy, and Air Force, Let’s step up. Let’s speed up with rescue boat-cargo aircraft whatever they have. From what I learned, people need rescue boats at this moment. Rescuing millions of people is a Herculean task. But let’s do it. Where there are as many speedboats and engine boats as there are near and far from the affected area, jump on them. But please don’t go without a life jacket. Danger will only unite us. No one can break us”, the post reads.

Ashfaque Nipun wrote: “May Allah help the flood-affected people to survive till they get rescued.”

Chanchal Chowdhury wrote: “Let’s all stand with flood-affected people.” He also shared a list of updated shelters. “Please share as much as you can”, the actor added.

Pori Moni posted a picture of a drowning child. She captioned it: “Allah! What will I do? My heart is broken. How to sleep looking at these eyes! Allah, please help us. There is no one now. I will go. I will do my best InshaAllah.”

Musical bands including Artcell, Shironamhin, Arbovirus, Nemesis, and Sonar Bangla Circus posted the “Get Up Stand Up” card by Bangladeshi musicians on Facebook for raising fund to stand by the flood-affected people. The collected money will be distributed to the flood victims.

Shironamhin posted, “Let’s stand next to the flood victims. Feni, Noakhali, Cumilla, Lakshmipur, Kurigram and Khagrachari have been affected by floods. Due to continuous rains, the water of the Muhuri River is flowing much above the danger level. Adjacent areas are in danger before they know anything.”

“People are unable to stay in their houses, children are being kept floating in pots, cows are dying, thousands of farm chickens have drowned in the water in just a few hours. Needless to say the suffering of old and sick people! In this state of the country, we want to come forward. We will collect your donations for the next three days (until 24 August) and reach the flood-affected areas as soon as possible,” they added.

Musician Prince Mahmud wrote: “Feni’s Parshuram, Fulgazi flooded. The rain does not fall short, so it is not right to expect that the water will decrease immediately. Everyone is prepared for emergencies. Let’s help the water-trapped people above politics, religion and caste.”

Actress Sadia Ayman shared a picture of domestic animals and urged everyone to help them.
