Hollywood actors Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona are set to headline a new comedy film titled Splitsville, which will explore the complexities of an open marriage, makers Neon and Topic Studios have announced.

“SPLITSVILLE. The new comedy from Michael Covino and Kyle Marvin, starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. Burning up 2025,” the official handle of Neon wrote on X, alongside a photo of a burning script of Splitsville.

Splitsville will be directed and written by Michael Covino, who will also star in the film alongside his longtime writing collaborator Kyle Marvin. The duo previously worked together on the 2019 film The Climb.

In Splitsville, Marvin plays Carey, a man whose wife Ashley (Arjona) asks for a divorce. Seeking guidance, Carey turns to his friends Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), only to discover that their secret to happiness lies in an open marriage. However, when Carey attempts to adopt this lifestyle with Ashley, it leads to unforeseen complications, throwing all their relationships into disarray.

Neon will handle U.S. distribution for Splitsville, which is set for a 2025 release, with production scheduled to begin this fall. Additionally, Neon plans to launch international sales for the film at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) next month.

Covino and Marvin are producing Splitsville under their Watch This Ready banner, with Emily Korteweg, Dakota Johnson, Ro Donnelly, and Samantha Racanelli also serving as producers for TeaTime Pictures. Arjona and Paul Barbeau are on board as executive producers.

Marvin recently appeared in the limited series WeCrashed, while Covino stars in the upcoming indie comedy Notice to Quit. Johnson’s recent work includes roles in Madame Web and Daddio alongside Sean Penn, with her next project being Materialists from Celine Song.
