Staff Correspondent: The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has planned to procure equipment worth around Tk 1,756 crore to face disasters.

According to sources, tools will be used for rescue operations during emergencies like earthquake in the country and keeping its workforce prepared to respond immediately.

Equipment will be procured through a project under third phase at a cost of Tk 1,756.33 crore.

According to sources, these tools will be purchased through 35 packages. Fire Service and Civil Defence, Armed Forces Division, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Coast Guard, Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP), Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Bangladesh Police, Directorate of Disaster Management, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) will get the tools for rescue operations.

The development project proposal (DPP) was approved in 2021-2022.

The proposal will be placed at a cabinet committee on purchase very soon.
