A probe body led by Md. Jakir Hossain, Senior Assistant Commissioner of General Unit of the District Administration visited the sites on Thursday last to conduct an investigation into the graft allegation brought against Abdul Khaleque, Chairman of Talom Union Parishad in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district over implementing of rural infrastructure development projects including Test Relief (TR), Food for Work and Work for Money (Taka).

Earlier on Sunday last, ‘The Daily Sky’ published a news-report titled “Allegation of massive irregularities against Talom UP Chairman” that drew the attention to the authorities concerned.

While contacted, Md. Jakir Hossain, Senior Assistant Commissioner of General Unit of the District Administration and head of the investigation team told ‘The Daily Sky’ on Saturday that, “I have visited the project sites physically and talked with the complainants and gathered necessary evidences in this connection. I have to submit the report as soon as possible.”

It is to be mentioned that, a written complaint was submitted to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mir Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman by the local Union Parishad Member Golam Mostafa and Nazir Uddin Mahuri bringing allegation of massive corruption and anomalies against Talom Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Khaleque.

Taking the allegation into cognizance, the Deputy Commissioner Mir Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman formed an investigation committee headed by Senior Assistant Commissioner of General Unit under the District Administration.

According to the written complaint, the chairman Abdul Khaleque misappropriated lakhs of Taka through anomalies in the rural infrastructure development projects.
