The High Court (HC) Thursday issued a ruling seeking to know why not order the formation of an international probe body into the killing of children by gunfire from the helicopter during the students’ movement and asking why compensation of Tk 1 crore will not be given to the families of the dead children.
The court has fixed September 5 for the next hearing of this rule.
On Thursday (August 15), the HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hasan Arif and Justice Md. Bazlur Rahman gave this order. Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker appeared for the writ. Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman heard on behalf of the state.
Earlier, a writ was filed seeking a direction to pay Tk 1 crore compensation to the families of each child who was killed in the helicopter firing during the students’ movement. The writ sought a judicial inquiry headed by a High Court judge.
