Intensity of winter to increase further

It has rained in different parts of the country in the last two days amid Magha month’s winter. But for now, there is no chance of rain. The clouds have disappeared. As a result of this, the temperature will drop more and a new cold wave may sweep over some parts of the country from today Saturday. Along with this, the feeling of winter in the whole country may also increase from today. This is what has been said in the forecast of the Meteorological Department.

According to the bulletin (message) of the Meteorological Department on Friday evening, the temperature may drop slightly across the country tonight. Apart from this, there may be moderate to dense fog in the river basins of the country from midnight tonight to Sunday morning. Other regions may experience light to moderate fog.

It rained in several areas of the country yesterday. Noakhali’s Hatia and Bagerhat’s Mongla have received 5 mm of rain. Rain fell in the Patuakhali, Chattogram Sandwip, and Satkhira areas. However, no area received more than 4 mm of rain in 24 hours. Apart from this, some areas of Bhola, Jeshore, Khulna, Cumilla, Rangamati, Chattogram, Madaripur, and Gopalganj received 1 mm of rain. There has been little rain in Faridpur and Barishal.

The weather in many parts of the country is close to mild cold waves. When the minimum temperature in a region falls between 10–8°C for two to three days, there is a mild cold wave. However, there was no cold wave yesterday in any part of the country.

Yesterday, the lowest temperature in the country was at Tentulia in Panchagarh, 9.7 degrees Celsius. Temperatures were near freezing in several other areas. Among them, the minimum temperature was 10.1 degrees in Rajarhat of Kurigram, 10.5 degrees in Dimla of Nilphamari, 10.5 degrees in Nikli of Kishoreganj, 10.7 degrees in Srimangal of Moulvibazar and 10.9 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur. Apart from this, the minimum temperature in most parts of the country was between 11 and 15 degrees Celsius yesterday. And the minimum temperature in Dhaka yesterday was 15 degrees Celsius.

Sales of winter clothes have increased in Panchagarh in sevre winter for several consecutive days. Especially low-income people flock to footpath shops to buy old winter clothes. Due to severe winter, the number of cold patients has increased in the hospital. Children and the elderly have more sufferer in severe winter. Many are suffering from various diseases including fever, cold, cough, diarrhea, pneumonia.

Several areas of Rajshahi, Jeshore and Chuadanga districts and Rangpur division are likely to experience cold wave from today.
