The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) prices have been increased at the consumer level in the country. In the private sector, the price of 12kg LPG cylinder including VAT has been increased by Tk 102 and fixed at Tk 993. The price will be effective from August 1.

However, the state-owned company’s LPG price has not changed as the cost has not changed at the production stage. The official price of 12kg LPG has remained at Tk 591.

Energy regulator BERC announced the new prices at an online press conference on Thursday.

The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the price of LPG due to rising prices in the global market.

The new price of LPG used in vehicles has been fixed at Tk 48.71 per liter. Earlier, it was Tk 44.

On April 12, the company set the price of LPG for the first time in the country. Since then, prices have been adjusted once a month.

LPG suppliers proposed a price hike at BERC last December. The BERC’s Technical Evaluation Committee evaluated their proposal. Then on January 14, BERC held a public hearing on setting the price of LPG.

BERC chairman. Abdul Jalil announced the price at the press conference. During this, BERC members Mohammad Abu Farooq, Maqbool E Ilahi Chowdhury, Mohammad Bazlur Rahman, Md. Kamruzzaman were present.
