Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has submitted charge-sheet against five persons including Subrata Kumar Halder, former Superintendent of Police (SP) in Madaripur district on charge of taking bribe during constable recruitment test.
Hafizul Islam, Deputy Director of ACC submitted the charge-sheet on Thursday last, while Session Assistant of District and Session Judge Court in Madaripur accepted that on behalf of the court.
Sources said, ACC lodged a case accusing six persons including former SP Subrata Kumar Halder on July 5, 2023 for realizing Tk 1.69 crore as bribe from job seekers during recruitment of constables.
After an investigation, ACC submitted charge-sheet against five persons named: former SP Subrata Kumar Halder (currently absconding), Constable Nuruzzaman Sumon (absconding), Jahidul Islam (currently suspended), former Medical Assistant of Madaripur District Police Hospital Peash Bala and former TSI (Town Sub-Inspector) Golam Rahman. The name of another accused was abolished from the charge.
It is to be mentioned that, a manpower recruitment notification was published in 2019 for Trainee Recruit Constable (TRC) post in Madaripur district. Subrata Kumar Halder, the then Superintendent of Police of Madaripur district, formulated questions and evaluated the answer sheets of the recruitment test. A special symbol was used in the exam book of the candidates from whom bribes were received. SP Subrata provided extra marks in all those answer sheets technically in exchange of bribe.
