Pakistan’s scheduled tour of Bangladesh in March and April next year is likely to be moved to a different window, with discussions ongoing between the two boards after the dates were found to clash with the Pakistan Super League.

Under the Future Tours Programme, Pakistan were due to play a full series comprising two World Test Championship matches and three one day internationals and three T20 internationals. However, multiple sources have indicated that the tour may now take place at another time.

Pakistani outlet Geo Super reported that the change is being considered because of the overlap with the 11th edition of the PSL. On Sunday, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the schedule for the franchise tournament, which will run from March 26 to May 3.

A source within the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also confirmed that the home series against Pakistan is expected to be held at a later date, while stressing that the number of matches will remain unchanged.

“The series schedule will be reworked. The two boards are currently in discussions,” the BCB source said. “There will be no reduction in the number of matches. A suitable window will be finalised through consultation and announced soon.”

The source added that the white ball fixtures could be adjusted as part of the revised plan. “The one day or T20 matches may be rescheduled. An official announcement will be made soon after discussions with the PCB.”

The Pakistan Super League was launched in 2016 with five franchises, expanding to six teams in 2018. Two more teams are set to be added in the upcoming edition.
