Sarjis Alam, one of the central coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, said that since August 5, numerous fake coordinators have emerged like chameleons.
He said: “We need to distinguish them from us. Their opportunistic nature was evident before, remains so now, and will likely persist in the future. If we do not separate them, they will tarnish our image under the guise of being coordinators.”
Sarjis made the comments during a discussion with students involved in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement at the Madaripur Municipal Conference Hall on Friday.
Sarjis Alam added: “No one could have imagined that Sheikh Hasina would flee the country. Claiming to be omnipotent was the only thing left for her. Everything else has happened in this country. The fall and escape of someone like Sheikh Hasina is a deeply shameful event. She could not even take her loyal supporters with her when she fled.”
Sarjis, who is also the general secretary of the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation, further said: “The misdeeds of Sheikh Hasina’s government have crumbled under the student and public uprising. However, opportunists are trying to sow division among the students and conspiring against them. It’s essential for everyone to remain united.”
He added: “Remember, a 16-year-long setup is ready, and only a few heads have fled, but it won’t take long for them to return. No one from the student movement should separate themselves. Everyone must stay together; otherwise, the outcome will deteriorate.”
The coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement warned that if any student harbors fascist ambitions in the future or attempts to misuse power, they will be expelled and face legal action.
