A Natore court has sentenced a private tutor to life term imprisonment for raping a child student in 2018.

The court also imposed a fine of Tk 50,000, to be given to the victim’s family.

The verdict was delivered on Monday (November 18) by Judge Muhammad Abdur Rahim of Natore Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal, with the accused present in court.

The convict is Hazrat Ali from Bagrum area.

Natore District and Sessions Judge Court Public Prosecutor Abdul Kader Mia confirmed the details.

According to court prosecution, on July 8, 2018, the victim had gone to school for private tutoring. After dismissing the other students, Hazrat Ali detained the child, claiming he would review some questions with her. During this time, he committed violated the girl and then threatened for her life if she disclosed the incident.

The child’s family became aware of the situation on July 12 when her health deteriorated.

Subsequently, the victim’s father filed a case against Hazrat Ali at Natore Sadar Police Station.

Following the case, Hazrat Ali was arrested and an investigation was conducted.

On July 31, 2018, police submitted the charge sheet and court proceedings began.

The court ordered that the fine of Tk 50,000 will be given to the victim’s family, as confirmed by Prosecutor Abdul Kader Mia.
