Gaibandha Correspondent:

Two children drowned in Karatoya river while bathing at Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha district on Monday afternoon.

The incident happened at Satana Balua village under Dorbosto union in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Abu Bakar, 7, son of Bulu Miah, a resident of the area; and Hosain Miah, 7, son of Bulu Miah, a resident of Kunderpara village under Phulbari union in the upazila.

Locals said that the duo along with other friends were bathing in Karatoya river. At one point, Abu Bakar and Hosain drowned in the river. Later, family members recovered their floating bodies from the river.

On information, police recovered the bodies and handed them over to their families after completing legal procedures, said Jahrul Islam, sub-inspector of Gobindaganj Police Station.
