6 burnt in Narsingdi bitumen factory blast

At least six people were burnt in an explosion in a Chinese factory producing bitumen oil near Narsingdi.

The incident took place at China International Trading Factory in the Dulalkandi area of ​​Belabo Upazila of Narsingdi on Friday (July 5) around 4 pm. The injured have been admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital Burn Unit.

Sajjat ​​Hossain Sourav, an official of the company, said that bitumen oil is made in their factory. A type of powder was released from the factory’s boiler on Friday. The people of the factory think that the powder is a flammable substance. A crane was being installed on Friday afternoon to move heavy machinery to the factory. While the welding machine was being used to install the crane, the fire originated from a spark coming out of the machine. Later that fire spread to the boiler. At that time, six workers working in front of the boiler of the factory were burnt in the fire.

They were rescued and admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The doctor said that the condition of one of the six people named Masud is in serious condition. His hands, back, and abdomen were burnt. The rest are much better.

Azizur Rahman, OC of Belabo police station confirmed the matter and said a fire broke out in China International Trading Co. Ltd. in the Dulalkandi area of ​​the upazila. I have learned that there has been an explosion in the factory adding that, they took the injured to Dhaka on their initiative. Police learned about the incident later in the night.
