The photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman should not have been removed from Bangabhaban, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Tuesday.
He said, President Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed had removed the photo of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman but late president Ziaur Rahman reinstalled it.
Rizvi was speaking at the BNP central office in Nayapaltan while inaugurating a free medical camp and blood donation programme on the occasion of “National Revolution and Solidarity Day” observed on November 7.
Rizvi said, those who have contributed at the national level must be acknowledged. History and people will decide if someone commits a crime. BNP is not a narrow-minded party like Awami League.
Criticizing the Awami League regime government at that time, he said that if former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had done less torture on people, she would not have had to flee. No one can live in his own country if there is injustice.
Earlier, a photo of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been removed from the Darbar Hall in Bangabhaban, the official residence of Bangladesh’s president.
