Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has been seen buying food items for himself and his wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, at low prices during his stopover in Turkey’s Istanbul while going to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.

The photo was widely circulated on social media on Monday, with netizens praising the PM for his down-to-earth and frugal personality.

The PM was previously hailed for cutting down his lunch allocation to Tk100 only, which was also viewed positively on social media.

Besides saving money on food, PM Tarique is also known for reducing the size of his official convoy, saving fuel during the ongoing energy crisis.
