An Australian citizen was killed in a motorcycle accident on the Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive on Thursday evening.

The accident took place around 6 pm on in Deilpara Marine Drive area of Inani Sonarpara under Ukhiya Upazila.

The dead was identified as Daniel Paul, 49.

Cox’s Bazar Police Super Mohammad Rahmat Ullah confirmed the matter and said that Daniel Paul was traveling on a rented motorcycle on Marine Drive. At one point, he lost control over the motorcycle and hit a roadside tree and suffered a fatal accident. He died on the spot.

Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Arif Hossain visited the spot and said that Daniel Paul was a resident of Sydney in Australia.

The OC further said four days ago Daniel came to Cox’s Bazar and stayed at Modern Resort at Kalatali. It seemed that he was returning from Inani Beach. The Australian Embassy in Dhaka has been informed about his death.
