The Bangladesh Bank on Wednesday dissolved the board of directors of IFIC bank, and formed a new six-member board, effectively dropping Sheikh Hasina’s corrupt adviser Salman F Rahman from the list.
Former managing director of the National Bank Limited (NBL) Md Mehmud Hossain leads the new board as an independent director. The board has three more independent directors and two government officials as directors due the 32.75% government share in the bank.
The other independent directors are: former executive director of the Bangladesh Bank Ebtadul Islam, Professor of the BRAC University Economic Department Sazzad Zahir and Chartered Accountant Kazi Md Mahbub Kashem.
Government board members are Additional Secretary of the Finance Division Md Golam Mostafa and Joint Secretary of the Finance Division Muhammad Manzarul Haque.
