Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Monday said the authorities do not yet have precise information on the current whereabouts of those responsible for the killing of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Osman Hadi.
Speaking to journalists after a core committee meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the adviser said law enforcers would have arrested the suspects immediately if their location were known.
“If we knew where they are, we would have caught them already. If we had such information, they would have been arrested,” he said.
“They could be inside the country or outside. But if we knew their exact location, we would take them into custody,” he added.
Jahangir said law enforcement agencies are making all-out efforts to identify and arrest the mastermind behind the murder.
He added that investigators have already confirmed that the prime suspect in the killing is a man named Faisal.
Responding to speculation about his possible resignation, the home affairs adviser dismissed the rumours, saying, “If I had resigned, I would not be sitting here.”
