Actor Rakul Preet Singh praises Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and Kriti Sanon’s Mimi, expressing her desire to play strong roles. She also hopes to do a historical film and a passionate love story.
Actor Rakul Preet Singh has never shied away from doing two-female lead films or even multi-starrers. The Mere Husband Ki Biwi actor has openly embraced female camaraderie in the industry. In a recent conversation with India on Tuesday Rakul spoke about the actors who inspire her.
“Actors have to get inspired by other actors’ work. If you think you are the best, then that’s it. That’s a downward trail for you. And I get inspired so many times by the films I watch. I think Gangubai by Alia (Bhatt) was outstanding. And I remember leaving her a long message because when you see that kind of work, you get so inspired,” Rakul told us, adding that she would love to play a character like Gangubai.
“I want to do something like that. Or even Kriti in Mimi was amazing. I loved Mimi. And I think there are so many peers doing such amazing work. It always inspires you and pushes you,” said Rakul, expressing her excitement about author-backed roles.
When asked if there is a genre she’s eager to explore but has never been offered, she added, “I haven’t done an out-and-out love story. I’ve done rom-coms, but I haven’t done a deep, passionate love story. But more than that, I want to do historicals, where you play a royal-looking queen. So I want to do a historical film, and I’d love to do a biopic because I feel the journey of creating a character from scratch and becoming another person is so exciting.”
Mere Husband Ki Biwi also stars Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar and hits theatres.
