The Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Dr. Muhammad Yunus Saturday said the government is committed to holding free, fair and participatory elections to ensure an inclusive, pluralistic democratic transition in Bangladesh.

He said this while joining the third Voice of Global South Summit in Delhi, India, on Saturday (August 17). This is Dr Yunus’s first multilateral event after being sworn in as the head of the Interim Government.

The Chief Adviser said that reforming the electoral system, judicial system, local government system, media, economy, and education system is one of the tasks of the Interim Government.

At this time, he also informed about the plan to bring necessary changes at all levels of the state structure including judiciary, election system, local government, education, and economy.

“From my long life experience, our financial system promotes wealth accumulation. In this case, the financial system needs to be reformed to ensure access to resources for all. Wealth should not be a one-way street. Financial services should be ensured for people. Many countries have played a leading role in this regard. We also have to move forward,” said Dr. Yunus.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus joined the third Voice of the Global South Summit in New Delhi from 10:30 am to 11:30 pm on Saturday. Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited Dr. Muhammad Yunus to attend the summit on Friday.
