Mir Khairul Alam, Satkhira:

In a heartwarming event, scholarships and educational materials were distributed to 10 meritorious students from four secondary schools in rural Bangladesh. This noble initiative was spearheaded by Saif Saifullah, a distinguished son of Kalaroa in Satkhira, a former brilliant BUET student, and currently a German expatriate. According to organizers, the selected students will receive monthly stipends based on their grade levels.

The event was held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at 4:30 PM on the premises of Kholshi Government Primary School in Helatala Union under Kalaroa Upazila of Satkhira district. The scholarships and educational materials were funded by the German-based organization JUGENDFÖRDERUNG E.V. / Youth Promotion E.V.

Engineer Saif Saifullah hails from the village of Kholshi in Helatala Union, and is the son of the late Haji Abdur Rahim, a respected social worker.

The event was graced by Abdul Alim, Headmaster of Helatala United High School, as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included local political and social activist Obaidullah; religious teacher Desh Ranjan from Helatala United High School; Azmal Hossain from Jhaudanga High School; Faruk Hossain from Kalaroa Pilot High School; Shafiqul Rahman, Headmaster of Kajirhat High School; and Sayem Hossain from Fatema Begum Junior Secondary School.

Overwhelmed with emotion, parents of the scholarship recipients expressed their gratitude, saying, “We never imagined someone from abroad like Saif Saifullah would do so much for our children. His support will help them continue their education.”

Local educators shared their concerns, stating, “Due to poverty and hardship, many students are often forced to abandon their studies. At such a time, Engineer Saifullah’s initiative has brought new hope. It’s not just financial support — it’s a beacon of encouragement for education.”

It was shared during the program that despite residing in Germany since 2002, Engineer Saif Saifullah has been consistently supporting meritorious yet underprivileged students in remote areas of Bangladesh through scholarships and educational materials. Although the initiative had to be temporarily paused due to political challenges, it has recently resumed with renewed vigor.

The headmaster of Helatala Ideal Secondary School remarked, “To enlighten and educate this region, such initiatives need to be expanded. Engineer Saif Saifullah has become a guiding light for education in our area.”

Additionally, educational materials were distributed on behalf of Italy-based expatriates Raihan and Bashar, adding more significance to the event.

Locals, teachers, and guardians collectively expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Engineer Saif Saifullah and prayed for his long life and good health, hoping that this benevolent support will continue for the benefit of future generations.
