People’s expectations from engineers are very high: Local Government Minister

Expressing high expectation from the engineers, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that, “Engineers must play a more active, responsible and effective role in the development of the country and building a new Bangladesh. Engineers should fulfill the expectations of people.”

He came up with the remarks, while speaking as the chief guest at a reception organized on the occasion of its 78th founding anniversary (Engineers Day) at the Auditorium of the Institution of Engineers Bangladesh (IEB) in Ramna of the capital on Saturday (May 23).

The ceremony, chaired by Engineer Mohammad Riazul Islam (Riju), was attended by several engineers and public representatives in recognition of their special contributions in various sectors.

Sanjida Islam (Tuli), MP, Moinul Islam Khan (Shanta), MP and Md. Ashraf Uddin (Bokul), MP, were felicitated at the event.

Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said that, IEB is not just an organization of engineers, but the institution has been playing an important role in various aspects of the progress and development of Bangladesh. At the same time, he emphasized on increasing the role of engineers in the development of the country.

The minister also said that, “We have fought for independence, fought for democracy and have repeatedly struggled to achieve our rights. After the July Uprising, a new sense of building a new Bangladesh has been created among the common people.”

He called everyone to be united and said, let us all build a new Bangladesh together.

Engineers, professional representatives and dignitaries from different classes and professions were present at the event.
